Quote Du Jour:
"Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
(Latin for "Seize the day, put no trust in tomorrow.")

One of the 70-plus folks that made it over to the house for our July 4th fireworks brought his digital camera and put it to use. Today, he passed on the pictures that he took. I've taken three and put them online for you to see.

I know I've mentioned this here before... but I hate having something wrong with a body part that I can't see. My sinuses are such an area. I'm trying to take as many drugs as possible to clear things up... but they don't seem to be working as fast as I would like them to.

Tonight (okay, actually it's this morning) I'm having trouble coming up with something to write. It's hard to think when your head hurts and you can't breathe. Call me old fashioned if you want... but I'm a big fan of breathing. Surgeon General's warning says that not breathing can be hazardous to your health, you know. :-) (0122)
Is it okay to have a double standard?

Jessie has accused me many times of having a double standard for most things. Her accusations are probably true. This topic also came up in Wednesday morning's long walk/conversation with Alex. She and I agreed that we both had double standards... but here's the deal.

We don't have one standard for men and another for women. Or one standard for blacks and another for whites. We've got one standard for ourselves and another for everyone else. Most times, the standard we hold ourselves to is a bit higher than the one we hold for others... and to me, that seems to be a good thing. (0127)
